Back in the U You U K!
1 March 2013
After an interesting trip to India I arrive back to London where there is so much stuff going on.
We acquired this superb Jacqueline Humphries - adding yet another magnificent painting to our collection.
Keith Tyson pulled it off yet again with a magnificent new body of work. Here two families of kids –Tyson& Shachter - check out the Pace show with Xenia at the helm! I am so proud of you Keith a big congratulations if you are reading this!
Then Invites artist Lucy Whitford holds a very poignant conversation with Maitreyi Maheshwari who jets off this month for her long deserved sabbatical. She heads of to India, she will be very missed.
It is relentless the Invites programme, no sooner had Lucy done her presentation than the show was over and next up is Lora Hristova and her very passionate and ‘intimate’ work.
Along with Lora we open Part 1 of our first big Painting show with Albert Oehlen and the young but incredibly talented artists Matthew Chambers and Francesca DiMattio.
There were gorgeous flowers everywhere. Francesca’s work is so vibrant. If you look very closely you can see her beautiful face peeping through her vase and flowers.
Ellen has produced a beautiful show and the special wall erected did more than justice for the majestic art works.
Ellen giving team Zab a full briefing about Albert Oehlen.
Art13 opened with a big Splash - A totally international mix of artists from every corner of the globe. An extra-ordinary pyramid of oranges by South African artist Roelef Louw to lighten up my soul.
Italian artist Patricia Piccinini created this interesting work called The Student.
Our homegrown Mathew Houlding at Ceri Hand.
Then refuge in the Lazarides squat - the star of the fair with art works not to be taken lightly.
The most important of all of course was our stand and with the help of Paola and Kelly and David Blandy posing for us we created the best ever stand. Which as usual was totally philanthropic, proceeds going only to the artist and the educational projects that is if we have anything left after our expenses.
Then it was back to Zabludowicz Collection for the Grand opening which was a huge success. The next day I was with Liam and Olivia and Zab Team checking the Random International Rain Room at the Barbican.
Random International's Flo tells Lizzie about the design.
After the Rain we went to the Light - at the Hayward. The public were queuing for miles and miles there were no tickets left. Ivan Navarro’s Tardis Doctor Who Box was causing quite a stir.Next up it is back to the USA for the Armory. I am looking forward to seeing what is next in line.
