Day 2 of snow and New York
24 March 2015
We went to The Hole to check out Evan Roberts' new work.
They were a good continuation of his current practice.
However, the highlight of our NYC visit was Ryan Trecartin’s incredible Triennial at the New Museum.
There were so many wonderful works and so little time to really look at them. Eloise Hauser, Antoine Catala, Avery Singer, Aleksandra Domanovic and the collective, DIS. Josh Kline’s work was wonderful. He had created a whole environment with the highlight most definitely being ‘The Island (Ken)’ a project we had helped to be realised.
After an interesting lunch with DIS. Lauren Boyle, Solomon Chase, Marco Roso, and David Toro,
I headed off with my good friend David Gryn. I’m helping him set up DAATA Editions, which will be launched on May 14. It’s such an exciting project where we commission artists using moving digital image and sound to create digital editions available for sale and research online. The selection of artists is really shaping up with Jon Rafman, Hannah Perry, Leo Gabin, Florian Meisenberg and Ed Fornieles all involved.
Brad Troemel’s Furby’s were out and about at the Armory.
but it was Nick Van Woert who really caught my eye. He had taken tree bark, flattened and framed it then dedicated it to the Boyle Family.
