Finland Residency Day 2
5 September 2022
It was so wonderful to see Jesse Wine’s ambitious ceramic work in the New Art Barn
I loved delving into some of our earlier ceramic works such as this piece by Melissa McGill
Meanwhile, in the Old Apple Store was Ed Atkins’ work he created during his Sarvisalo residency, as well as some of Jesse Wine’s glasswork
In the Large Art Barn was Katia Novitskova’s ‘Planetary potential (red earth)’
In front of Herman’s was a beautiful work by Sam Falls, which created a conversation between the new and the old
The Oscar Tuazon’s installation was in position! All the above photos are by Ollie Harrop
Then it was time to meet some of the artists in residence such as Jake Elwes and his A.I drag queens in the forest
A very happy Oscar Tuazon!
We even had time for recreation, and it was magical listening to Jake Elwes playing jazz on the piano
Lizzie catching up with local Finnish poet Kai Nieminen. We were lucky enough to borrow two ceramic objects by him and his late wife Elina Sorainen from our friend Nina Bjorkman-Nystén. Elina lived with Kai up the road in Loviisa and was a specialist in Iranian and Japanese ceramics.
We managed to get a great group photo, well done Ollie!
Time for cocktails with Julia Greenway, Jake Elwes and Roland Augustine
Oscar with his new and old fan club
