I find myself
3 June 2012
We visit new gallery The Suzanne Geiss Company where Kristin Baker’s new works are getting more interesting. She is already a well-established artist. We do not have her work in our collection.
However Michael Bauer who I have followed from the beginning of his career is showing a blockbuster show in Lisa Cooley’s new space.
Had time for a little window shopping and thought the displays at Prada Soho were one of the best I had seen. Art without an artist!
Then with Roy we dropped by to Matthew Day Jacksons new studio in Brooklyn. He proudly showed us his new plans for the future which totally floored us.
After we swept ourselves up we headed downtown to visit Per Skarstedt who had the most amazing Juan Munoz show. His gallery was very beautiful.
Then our tour guide Peter took us to visit Adam Lindeman and his new space Venus Over Manhatten. At this scarily dark seductive show called “A Rebours" I was pleased to see the work of the very talented Hope Atherton.
Adam explaining his 'wall of pain' to us. Artists from Dash Snow to Damien Hirst on view.
We had time to visit Mathew at American Contemporary.
I thought the work of Sam Falls was very impressive.
We dropped into James Cohen gallery who had a group show curated by Mathew Higgs who showed many of my favourites. Including Sarah Braman work “slow poke”
Went to check out a new gallery Simone Subal and liked the work of Erika Vogt. Could be something special. Then finally dropped by to The Hole and bumped in to Kathy and discovered a great new artist, the grandson of Calder called Holton Rower.
