My life has been all planes this month but with plenty of adventures along the way
I was lucky enough to spend a little downtime with Tiqui Atencio and Simon de Pury reading their new books - ‘Could Have, Would Have, Should Have’ by Tiqui and the ‘The Auctioneer’ by Simon
Meanwhile, we had published our umpteenth book, a catalogue on the Zab exhibition ‘Scar Cymbals’ and all of Donna Huanca’s past projects
Then it was back to business and straight to Puerto Rico to experience ‘Procesión-Migración,’ co-curated by Tif Zab alongside her mentor Klaus Biesenbach. It was a wonderful procession conceived by Papo Colo with performances along the route
The day started with a manifesto read to us by an interesting artist with an interesting moustache
Then we were led into the El Yunque forest. It was magical. 500 people walking through the forest with actors and singers performing along the way
We finished at Papo’s foundation on the island, where he served dinner and now plans to spend over a year not talking and focussing on his practice
The next day we headed to see Allora and Calzadilla’s project ‘Puerto Rican Light’ 2015, created with a singular Dan Flavin perched up high within a cave amongst the bats and snakes. The cave was beautiful and I was happy to get to the top, even if it was a bit of a climb
Then we climbed right back down and ended our trek at the magnificent Museo de Arte de Ponce. Tiffany took a moment to lay in the splendour of Carlos Rolón/Dzine’s ‘Tropicalizia’
But there was no time for rest, so straight from the rainforest and Museo de Arte de Ponce we headed back to San Juan and bumped into Hector Arce Espasas and José Lerme
We were thrilled to take in the electric atmosphere of Puerto Rico Night.
We visited Luis Vargas’ studio, here's Sarah Arison in the background and Kiki Liu all listening intensely to Klaus’s words
Then we finished up with a visit to Roberto Paradise at Placid Park with José Lerme showing us his wonderful work
