Finally, we make it to Los Angeles and its great to be here! We visit a superb minimalist collection and in the front garden are two great looking Sam Falls
Then we head to the home of Bill and Mandy Epstein. It had been so many years since our last visit when Jeff Burden showed us his incredible work and he was such a modest man
There were so many wonderful works including a Nam June Paik
Hans Ulrich taking shade under a Nancy Rubin Sculpture
Great photo of Mikolaj Sekutowicz and Raimund Berthold taking in the beautiful LA sunshine
My favourite Paul McCarthy
The highlight of our whole visit was to Pipilotti Rist where we visited a wonderful surreal living room
In every corner were beautiful trippy objects. I felt like I was walking through a dream. Poju and Olivia stopped for a rest on the oversize couches
I watched some of the amazing video works projected on the wall
Finally, a little call for help as we left the incredible show
Then it was to the Prada pop up to a Garrett Bradley talk on film
Daata opened tonight with the uptown armoury
We went to visit LAND’s ‘Ladies’ Lair Lake’ which was spectacular; Trulee Hall once again excelled herself. The show was based on a creation myth that begins with woman not man. The scene is in a forest next to a lake where the nymphs and a mischievous goddess run the show. The usual CGI claymation puppetry green screen and some found nature footage
We reunited amongst the men’s utensils
Then I managed to get to a Rachel Harrison talk at Regen Projects
Somebody had left a coffee cup behind
At dinner we had to be checked in LA style, with rapid flow testers at the ready
The evening finished up in the Chemisphere hanging out with Albert Oehlen, Ed Ruscha and Mary Weatherford. Only in LA
