LA: Part One
5 March 2019
We arrive to LA and it’s Friezing!
A briefly warm moment in Walead Beshty’s garden celebrating François Chantala’s very big birthday!
Time to drop in to see Kenny Schachter’s show at Kantor Gallery’s Beverley Hills home. It was so much fun, full of great one-liners and aesthetically pleasing graphics. However we missed the best part, the party the previous night!
Then it was umbrellas out as we headed to Frieze Art Fair
The installation at the entrance was sublime
There were lots to see, my favourite was Sean Raspet at Société
I also loved the Bunny Rogers chairs
My friend Pamela introduced me to Roman Ondak at Kurimanzutto
Lauren Prakke and I twinning in our matching t-shirts
Then it was a quick hop and a jump to the Roosevelt Hotel where Felix Art Fair had some great art on display. I loved at Jessica Silverman this wonderful Woody De Othello ceramic
At Stefania Bortolami I fell in love with Eric Wesley
There was something very Americana and authentic about this work a little, kitsch perhaps, but at the same time some serious art historical references came into play
At the end of the day we headed to the roof with my art companion Roy Zab
We were wined and dined in the most beautiful of homes, including this spectacular scene overlooking LA. What a day!
