Miami Basel
8 December 2013
NADA was a triumph. Such a relief after the hard hitting Basel Art Fair. The atmosphere was younger and much more relaxing and there was some wonderfully refreshing art to be seen.
I loved the XYZ collective from Japan.
Soshiro Matsubara showed me his wonderful double fried eggs
and his partner offered me his house keys so I could live in his house in Japan!
Alex Freedman at Freedman Fitzpatrick Gallery introduced me to the Swiss artist Tobias Madison, I found their take an art refreshing.
There was a great atmosphere all around Paradise Garage run by Liz Craft and her husband.
Liz had her lips with money scattered all around the booth.
The art scene was buzzing and in the Lobby of the W I bumped into my old friends Jérôme Sans and Peter Doreshenko.
Max Wigram hosted us for the evening in a fabulous kind of Mexican/Cuban-esque Macdonalds type of taverna with huge fluorescent lights and great food. Jumex Foundation Director, Patrik Charpenel posed for me with Jose Dávila.
At David Gryns bash to celebrate his marathon of films at Art Basel Charles Atlas paid us a visit.
David making a very good attempt at impersonating James Bond.
I also had the pleasure to meet the artist Dara Birnbaum, she is quite the lady and the curator, Karen Archey.
Roy and Tiffany were bouncing around on the Friends are Us installation at the Mondrian, was quite a show stopper I thought.
