There is so much happening in the art world, and it can be a little fatiguing with so many changes happening all the time, so I'm focusing on my art world (the best one, but I know I'm biased!). At the ZC, Master Class was taking place and it was awesome. With the help of Doug Fishbone, the guest artists were invited to mentor a group of emerging artists, with talks each evening. The first talk was by the brilliant Damien Roach who spoke about his practice, including his NFT project SEED, which was a great success
The next evening we heard from Chila Kumari Singh Burman, who is well known for her light installation on the Tate Britain façade during lockdown
Here's the brilliant Toby Ziegler explaining his fascination with AI. Toby presented a show at the ZC back in 2010 which included a bucking bronco in the main hall!
It was great to have Richard Deacon present another fascinating talk
At Ben Brown was a very special evening with Vik Muniz and his incredible photo works. They were all so vivid and full of information. It was great to meet him
A very big treat was a visit Alice Neel's show the Barbican 'Hot Off The Griddle'. It was fascinating; the subjects had so much character which was brought out so brilliantly by her painting
I had time to visit Corvi-Mora and met Che Lovelace who is a very special person. Che's paintings weave stories of life, freedom, and post-colonialism in his native Trinidad into a tapestry of abstracted landscapes, still lives and portraits
At Gazelli Art House, ZC curator Paul Luckraft presented a brilliant talk with artist Libby Heaney, all about quantum physics in art
The opening of Isaac Julien's show at Tate Britain was spectacular, and the spaces were divided by genius David Adjaye. The show is called what 'Freedom Is to Me', and we felt so proud to see one of our donated works being used for this show. This ambitious solo exhibition reveals the scope of Julien's pioneering work in film and installation from the early 1980s through to the present day
A wonderful rare photo of Gavin Turk and Isaac
We were very proud to be hosting the Mother Art Prize. Established and curated by Procreate Project, the Mother Art Prize is the only international open call for self-identifying women and non-binary visual artists with caring responsibilities. We hosted a beautiful lunch to celebrate the opening, and here are the lovely Mother Art Prize artists all standing together
Artist Qian Qian stands in front of her beautiful works
It was a great and special moment for us mamas
