My last days in London
9 January 2023
Whilst in London, I enjoyed Strange Clay: Ceramics in Contemporary Art at the Hayward Gallery. Lizzie, Paul and I were very excited, and enjoyed a great presentation by Ralph Rugoff
We entered to a wonderful array of ceramics by Betty Woodman and Jonathan Baldock
A wonderful work by Serena Korda inspired by the myth of Parthenope, a siren who filled the Bay of Naples with her tears and drowned in them after failing to entice the hero Odysseus
The beads were in all sorts of shapes
Rachel Kneebone’s works were concerned with the experience of the body with ribbons of limbs that twist and turn around each other
There was a wonderful presentation of Klara Kristalova
My favourite installation was by Lindsey Mendick who created a home that had been invaded by all sorts of rodents who were cheekily living there!
In the kitchen, Mendick had included chewed wires made of ceramic
And the bathroom was invaded by an octopus!
Ryan Stern opened his gallery Sixty Six, and proudly displayed a magnificent Dale Lewis painting
I attended a wonderful event to say farewell to James Lingwood after 25 years at Artangel. A sad moment but a happy goodbye
