Opening of Rachel Maclean
18 October 2018
Finally it was the grand opening of Rachel Maclean ’s Annual Commission at Zabludowicz Collection - I was in awe of everything!
Firstly, I must say I have an amazing Zab Team and they were exceptional in pulling this off. Paul did an incredible job in leading the way and Maitreyi curated the 360: VR Room to perfection
We gave a special lunch at home where many people came to visit from all corners of the country, including Nicky Wilson from Jupiter Artland, Pauline Daly from Sadie Coles and Stefan Kalmár form ICA
Artist Rachel showed me her lovely new t-shirts and tote bags which were unique and fabulous
She made sure all gallery assistants were wearing her wonderful designs
Meanwhile in her new film Make Me Up, the on-screen evil eye was spying on us all us...
…poor Siri is fighting for her life throughout
Rachel’s first ever virtual reality work was a triumph and featured an apology for us all to see
Our lovely friend Daniel Lismore paid us a visit and turned our Venetian work ‘Spite Your Face’ into a reality
There has been no lack of audience since we opened, here they are huddled around ‘Spite Your Face’ which was show at 2017’s Venice Biennale
The show has been a superb success with the press, whom have given us whole and half pages in the newspapers - including the Financial Times in which Rachel describes her work as ‘a heightened version of the world we live in’
