The three F’s
24 October 2011
Dragged out of bed suffering from Frieze Flu I headed towards the Hayward.
There was a ménage of fragmented leftovers from Frieze week held together by Kanye West’s haunting melodic rap being performed right in front of us.
Ralph Rugoff the biggest fan of all and the happiest man in the world hosting this amazing concert for George and Simon Lee.
Adam Weymouth so proud, his two heroes signed on the same T Shirt.
George the happiest man alive.
Then it was Paris and how wonderful the sun was gleaming and the fair had the most lovely atmosphere.First stop The Approach and we discovered a new Cris Brodahl; she had moved on with her technique her work had become very sculptural.
A beautiful Pae White
New artist Danny Macdonald with Isabella Bortolozzi
If you were parched just stop at the stand at Chantal Crousel and help yourself to a nice swig of whiskey from the work by Claire Fontaine.
At Barbara Gladstone the most impressive was Andro Wekua
At Almine Rech was a good work by the young Lizzie Fitch
On our way out we bumped into a beaming Mathew Slotover and Pablo Bronstein very happy I had braved the Romanesque Urinal.
Then we checked out the films and our work by Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin at the Musee d’art modern de la ville de Paris.
Amongst other works
Us with Ryan and Lizzie.
Spotted art lover taking nap in Palais De Tokyo in front of the telly.
Us with Team Ryan and Lizzie.
We dropped by to the very big Rosenblum, collection where on the way out we bumped into Alicia Kwade and Gregor Hilderbrandt, with Amir.
We headed off to the most wonderful Vietnamese restaurant called Tan Dinh where the story of the art collector owner Robert Vifian was no different to the story of the ex postman Mr Vogel in New York.
All freshened up for the next day after a wonderful walk around the Louvre viewing Michal Rovner’s Makam.
Then it was breakfast with Art Guru Mark Foxx and artist Carter Mull. Was good to meet Carter as we have had his work in the collection now for a couple of years.
After visiting the Pompidou I discover that Yayoi Kusama is really good artist.
Now I know why everyone likes her work.
We left her show feeling happy even though she is a very disturbed lady!
Then it was to visit Nick van Woert at Yvon Lambert
we were trying to give his new work a new name but were not very helpful.
Interesting work by Gerard Deschamps, “Yes we cannot” make sense of the work.
Then dropped by to check Aaron Young’s show at Almine Rech and I loved some of it.
Then it was off to Newcastle to see the Turner Prize and all the work for a change were as equally as good. From Karla Black’s floating cloud.
To Martin Boyce’s dysfunctional outdoor desk.I can never predict the winner of the prize so it will be interesting if the obvious choice is to win or the less obvious.

So now the three Fs are over I can resume normal life.... FRIEZE, FLU and FIAC.
