Venice: Day 5
4 June 2011
The crowds have begun to dissappear...
Judy Lubke joined us for breakfast
Tiffany having her Peggy moment in the water taxi.
Then off to the Prada Foundation. My friend Patricia M was totally disgusted with me as the wonderful Fontanas, Damien Hirsts and Cattelans did not really move me.
I did however love the architectural scheme for their new centre in Milan.
Everyone was moaning about the Palazzo Grassi, but I found it to be great fun. I loved especially the Matthew Day Jackson installation. The Dogana on the other hand like the Prada, was just a little too blue chip for me. We all had to pay our way to enter both of these great buildings and a few hundred Euro later we had seen our fill.
One by one everyone was returning home. Bonnie Clearwater came for breakfast as she was heading to Stockholm with her group then to us in Finland. Our first ever Museum group to visit Sarvisalo. Hope they like it.
Then the real luxury began. The heavens opened up and poured their heart out and Roy and I were able to see all the shows that were lurking in the background.
We loved 'Penelope's Labour', the tapestries were magnificent.
The Russian show MODERNIKON had also been put down but I thought it was interesting. You just needed a little time to decipher it, I particularly liked the work of Olga Chernysheva.
The Iraqi pavilion was also good; right next to the wonderful show 'The Knowledge'. Where I bumped into Shih Chieh Huang and Nancy Fouts and got to know Fiona Biggiero from the Gervasuti Foundation.
Then to TRA at the Museo Fortuny. I was totally mesmerized and surrounded by beautiful art. Such artists as Marina Abramovic, Berlinde de Bruyckere and I loved this work by Hans op de Beeck.
The views out the window were dreamy.
I saw a wonderful 'Glasstress' show in Murano and Venice, it was beautiful and BREAKING NEWS we found the origin of the outbreak, here is the work by Luke Jerram ntitled E COLI!
As I headed to the airport back to UK I visited Scotland and the poetic work of Karla Black.
I have had a spectacular time in Venice and will remember this trip for a very long time.
