Wrapping it up in London
7 August 2018
Finally I am back in London after Basel
I was very excited that BFAMI was hosting Marina Abramović for the Women in Art Lunch. One of the greatest performance artists around and very human at the same time
Marina loved talking to the younger artists, such as Anj Smith, Rebecca Ackroyd and Athena Papadopoulos
I managed to view Artangel’s auction with Director James Lingwood which was a huge success. I thought Daniel Silver’s work ‘Alison Fitzpatrick’, 2018 was magnificent
Meanwhile, at Manchester Art Gallery we were very proud to be displaying many of our Finnish Design Collection pieces in their ‘Nordic Craft and Design’ show
On the same evening ‘Michael Jackson: On The Wall’ opened at National Portrait Gallery. We was pleased to loan three works by Paul Pfeiffer for inclusion in the show, here is Liam Zab enjoying ‘Live Evil (Copenhagen)’, 2003
Over at the Royal College of Art Summer Show I discovered quite a bit of talent. I particularly liked ‘Beneath the boundaries of flesh’ by Soraya Abu Naba’a
My favorite work was ‘Looking for Sugar in the Ocean... Who Is The Enemy?’ by Larry Amponsah – a collage film
The work of Wonje Kang was a delight!
I popped over to Simon Lee Gallery where I met the artist Leelee Kimmel. The large scale paintings are a investigation of 3D web drawings in air which are then converted to 2D
Finally, it was a very sad goodbye to Ericka Beckman’s solo show at the gallery. Every work was a classic with wonderful narratives throughout
Meanwhile in New York, Tiffany had set up a Jasper Spicero show at Time Square Space. ‘The Glady Day’ show was made in collaboration with Wills Baker and features sculptural objects which are relevant to a therapeutic program operating in the logic of a video game
