About
Dan Shaw-Town works in the expanded field of drawing. Working almost exclusively with works on paper from 2008 until 2011, he became preoccupied with “flatness as a physical condition rather than an assigned value”. Evolving onto raw canvas, Shaw-Town uses mixed techniques such as graphite, oil pastel, acrylic colours and in some cases grease, to condense strong and precise gesture onto surface. Enfolding the process of drawing with sculpting, his works reveal the labour-intensive process of their making.
Dan Sahw-Town holds a BA in Fine Art from London Metropolitan University and an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
