About
Issy Wood’s paintings combine elements of the past and the present to create scenes that represent a blurring of worlds. Known to paint from pictures on her phone or from auction catalogues, Wood combines her traditional painting style with an inclusion of contemporary content such as a clothing (This Should Cover It, 2017) or acrylic nails (Mad At Me, 2018). Her work is filled with texture and surface: skin, silverware, hair and leather all jostle for depiction in her slippery surreal timeless yet utterly contemporary works.
