About
Working in both film and sculpture, Jasper Spicero crafts works that possess a very specific mise-en-scène that is often paired with stark industrial visuals to create senses of intimacy and isolation. Spicero focuses on institutional settings, such as prisons (Centers in Pain, 2014) and rehabilitation centres (Glady Day, 2018) and these locations are sites of fascination for the artist. Spicero’s sculptures also feature within his films and are imbued with additional meaning beyond their physicality and invite the viewer to develop a familiar relationship with the world that is presented on film.
