About

The art of Rosy Keyser invites you to think about the intersections between people and the matter that surround us. Often 'foraging' for objects and industrial supplies in rural American settings, Keyser exacts forceful transformations on what she recovers there. Working intuitively, she moulds, tears, damages, and deconstructs her materials' natural properties to expose previously unseen fragilities. These altered forms become formidable compositions, each component carrying indelible traces of both Keyser's actions and its elusive past life. Large in scale, and inescapably tactile, each work offers expressions beyond the formality of language or allegory. Her paintings seek to inspire a bodily resonance about what it means to inhabit a material world.
