About
Using painterly techniques O'Connell investigates how the brain, eye and intellect interact. His works often take diverse references - such as Las Vegas casino carpet patterns and pressure point massage techniques - to produce physical and poetic intersections between both the issues at large and the mediums he has selected to investigate the issues in. For his Invites exhibtion O'Connell has produced a series of new works in latex and steel which investigate the development of ambient devices, digital programmes which monitor abstract information and communicate it passively to their user.
