About
Swiss artist Tobias Madison creates varied works that are unified by themes of absence and an opening up of structure, both physical and metaphorical. Manipulating spaces, Madison addresses the notion of boundaries through the production of incomplete or suggestive structures. His site specific interventions have involved techniques such as hanging wires to encourage pathways through rooms, or the ambitious Drip Event , 2013, which gradually flooded a gallery space at Power Station, Texas. His sculptural works often reconstruct common commodities, such as fragile paper lanterns cast in cement, or popular clothing brands bleached and torn to become almost unrecognisable.
