About

Drawing on language to describe dance steps, Anna Barham collaborates with a tap dancer on this spoken performance that examines the rhythms and onomatopoeic qualities of voice and text. The stuttering quality of this language draws attention to our modes of communication, disrupting meaning and the purely functional quality of such syllables.

Anna Barham's practice plays with words through self-imposed rules to produce poetic texts and anagrams that reveal the unconscious meanings of words. She works in a variety of media, including sculpture, performance, video and drawing.
