James Ireland expands on his Invites exhibition with a discussion around the ways in which landscape and the ‘picturesque’ have influenced contemporary art practice with artist Sigrid Holmwood.

Sigrid Holmwood works with an expanded form of painting, including performance, video, gardening and pigment-making - all through the framework of her persona, the peasant-painter. She has exhibited solo projects with Hallands Konstmuseum, Sweden (2013), Vitamin Creative Space, Beijing (2011), and Annely Juda Fine Art (2008, 2012); and group shows at The Saatchi Gallery (2016, 2010), Compton Verney (2009). She is currently working on constructing a pigment garden in collaboration with Joya: arte + ecología , in the Sierra María los Vélez mountains in Almería, Spain.
