Invites: Hazel Brill
About
Hazel Brill presents a new spring-themed video installation featuring an animated narcissus, a Heston Blumenthal lookalike, tulip bulbs and recurring covers of Wuthering Heights. Inside the Invites room a theatrical set evokes an artificial landscape populated by props and characters that intermittently aid and guide the narrative. Brill structures her storytelling in a way she describes as ‘epileptic, comprised of auras and mini-seizures’. Characters, both human and animated, loop on top of one another, alluding to natural and artificial cycles of repeated gains and losses.
